Great Music Reviews

It’s not easy finding good music reviews nowadays, especially with the proliferation of blogs and websites where anyone who is anyone can pipe up with their two cents worth of knowledge about whatever they want to say about the latest Ting Tings B-side…however, you should not give up hope. There are still great music reviews out there, you just have to search a little harder to find them, among the ether of sub-standard sites and webpages.

The best thing to do is to rely on word of mouth advice from people who you trust and once you find a site that delivers top quality reviews, stick with it! Pick your genre and search the web for reviews in artists in that genre, then just spend a few hours comparing and contrasting the various writing styles until you find one that you like! Of course, if you find one that you like straight away, then count your lucky stars and stick with that one…

The Peace Symbol

One of the most universally known and used symbol in the world is the one that represents ‘peace’. Thought up in 1958, the dove and olive branch peace symbol can now be seen literally every where – on t-shirts, pants, cars, walls, and of course, on the jewelry people wear. The symbols has been used by International Organizations, civil right movements, politicians, activists, rock groups, and anyone who has something to do with ‘peace’.

The present peace symbol was actually designed by a British designer for a committee against nuclear war and was later adopted by nuclear disarmament and anti war movements. The symbol crossed the Atlantic and reaching the United States where it was first used in civil right movements then in the anti-war movements during the time of the Vietnam War. It slowly received broader popularity, especially among the youth of those days. It was also a timely symbol at an era where peace is one of the things most sought for by people all over the world. It is also universal in the sense that it actually doesn’t really contain symbols of a particular religious group and the desire for peace is something inherent in people all over the world, irrespective of race or religion.
